Alabama extends Nick Saban’s contract through 2028 season

Alabama extended Nick Saban’s contract through 2028 on Monday, a deal the coach said would keep him there for the rest of his career.The new agreement extended Saban’s current deal by three seasons and runs through Feb. 28, 2029.His base salary of $8.425 million for the current contract year will increase annually throughout the length of the deal.Saban will also receive an $800,000 contract completion benefit at the end of the 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025 seasons, putting his total annual compensation in the $10 million range.Saban, who turns 70 in October, is entering his 15th season at Alabama and has guided the Crimson Tide to six national championships, seven SEC championships and a 170-23 (.881) record. Alabama went 13-0 and defeated Ohio State in the College Football Playoff national title game last season.
