NC State slides past Duke

He was intercepted three times, including by Jaylon Scott with about six minutes left after the Blue Devils reached NC State territory.The Wolfpack (4-1, 4-1 ACC) converted on the ensuing possession with Christopher Dunn’s 39-yard field goal pushing the margin to 31-20.NC State didn’t lead until Leary’s 4-yard pass to Cary Angeline for a touchdown followed by Dunn’s extra-point kick with 4:01 left in the third quarter.Leading 20-14 in the third quarter, Duke (1-5, 1-5) was stopped on fourth down inside the NC State 1-yard line. It was the Wolfpack’s third goal-line stand to prevent points in as many weeks.Leary exited in the final minute of the third quarter with a left ankle injury. Backup quarterback Bailey Hockman threw a 9-yard touchdown pass on the first play of the fourth quarter, with receiver Thayer Thomas securing the deflected pass by pinning the ball on his helmet.NC State linebacker Payton Wilson intercepted two passes.Both teams blocked a punt and made returns for touchdowns in the first half in the first meeting since 2013 between the programs separated by about 20 miles.
